I was impressed by the nursing care and volunteer care, but when my Dear Mom went into labored breathing and groaned in pain the day before her death more morphine was administered of course. To give her comfort. Yet Continua's case manager would not claim she was near death, kind of border line, or my family would have surrounded her. By the next day it was so much worse, the claminess, labored breathing and not able to communicate or respond and the case manager still thought borderline. What? I'm fortunate that when you did send the nurse she immediately saw her imminent death around 7:20 pm and my husband and I could be with her when she passed. And we were told 2-3 hours but she died about 30 minutes later and her husband of 67 years was on his way but missed her passing within a minute. This doesn't make sense to me because I thought once the mottling on her body, labored breathing her death is very near, as I experienced with my mother-in-law 16 years ago. Her Hospice was with us for 6 hours. I was shocked when my Mom died so quickly but I'm thankful I was there to witness her spirit leave her Earthly body and join the Lord Jesus.
