Dr. Blaakman has a great chairside manner, good sense of humor and easy to talk to from a patient perpesctive. He makes his patients feel at ease even though the news may not be great. After being a patient with another footcare specialist, I'd say Dr. Haans is the best foot doctor we have in the tri-county area which includes Greenville, Spartanburg, and Gaffney.

No offense to any other podiatrist in the area, but if you're having a problem with your feet or legs, don't waste your time looking any further than Dr Blaakman. He's the BEST. I had a problem with Plantar Fasciitis that was getting worse for over a year. It was so bad I couldn't walk for the first minute or two when I got up in the morning or after a prolonged flight. 15 minutes after my visit with Dr Blaakman, the problem started to go away. After the cortisone shot, he advised me about orthotics. Being very overweight, the problem with my foot was a huge impediment to me losing weight. In three visits, things have gone from terrible to great.

Outside of professional competence (which is the main thing I care about in a doctor), let's talk about his professionalism and patient care. I travel every week and have a very hard time with appointments. Dr Blaakman and his team bend over backward to accommodate my schedule. In my first visit, it took about 5 minutes to get my paperwork done and I had to wait a whole 3 minutes before he attended to me. On the long side, you'll wait maybe 5 minutes for him but typically, he's in the examination room by the time you have a seat. He's tremendously sensitive to your time. Another time, precisely b/c he knew I had a flight, his staff called me and told me I could come early (I'm pretty sure he skipped lunch just so I could come in early and make sure I had plenty of time to catch my flight). His staff is as kind and helpful as any professional staff can be. I won't go into detail but I was in a hurry twice and didn't want to bother with filing an insurance claim and his staff explained to me why that was not a good idea (ignoring the financial aspect) and took care of everything for me so quickly bypassing insurance wouldn't have even saved me any time. They're caring, polite and pay very close attention to the needs of their patients. This level of excellence doesn't happen by accident - it starts with a super competent doctor that hires great people who share his commitment to his patients. Again, no slight to any other podiatrist in the area, I'm sure there are plenty of other great ones, but don't waste your time, I don't care how good they are, they can't possibly be as good as Dr B and his staff.
