I had my mom moved here after 5 days at another rehab facility in holladay. This place is like the Ritz. Brand new. Lots of windows and tons of sunlight. Wide, well lit hallways. Nice furniture and plenty of nice art on the walls. Every day they have 3 nice meals (and cater to vegetarians) in a nice dining room. Staff very attentive. And lots of staff. On site hair stylist. Huge rehab gym with lots of nice equipment with floor to ceiling windows looking at timpanogos.

I had broken my back in a skiing accident and was transfered to this facility for rehab. They took very good care of me and helped me get back on my feet fast. They gave my meds on time and let me rest and also excerised me when my therapist came. the only person that was bad there was a woman named Casey. She was the head of the Nurses Aids. she was mean and physically abused me on one occasion. I complained and she was never allowed in my room again.

"A rough exterior but compassion inside"

When my family and I first saw the facility just from the outside, we were aghast. The place looks like an old rundown elementary school. When we stepped inside, we were even more concerned as the interior really did not look any better. I think our first response was "they keep people here?!". My mother's room was small and appointed with old, rickety furniture and the bed sheet looked more like a cheese cloth. I think the bed itself was comfortable enough but not a real hospital bed which is really what she needed. She shared her bathroom with the resident next door and her view out the window was of a dumpster!
Our first inclination was to get her out of there as fast as possible and figure out another facility to transfer her to or how to manage her at home while we sorted out getting her into the facility where she was originally supposed to be placed and really needed to be.
However, the nursing staff were really wonderful and compassionate. They seemed to genuinely care for her well-being and were very accomodating to her needs. They did have a physical therapist who came to the facility and I think both my mother and father were happy with the level of therapy she received, although she really needed much more intensive therapy than what could be offered there. (Their rehab room was sparsely equipped - parallel bars, some cables and a table were about all that I saw. I think it doubled as a storage room)
We were able to get her transferred to the appropriate facility within a couple days. I think that by the end of her visit there, we were all less appalled by the facility and more sympathetic to their needs for better facilities, furniture, equipment, etc. I am sure that we will donate some money to help them out.
