My sister and I searched the internet, read reviews, spoke with people in the field, and subsequently visited several of these Facilities in the Bakersfield area that would accept her HMO. Each one we visited was rated 2-3 stars. It is truly amazing the vast differences between Facilities rated with the same number of stars. This is why I am writing this review, I hope someone will find it helpful.

Parkview Julian Convalescent Hospital is rated 2 stars. It is an older Facility, does not have some of the state of the art equipment that other Facilities may have but let me tell you what they do have.

On our first visit to Parkview Julian Convalescent Hospital we were struck by the wide well-lighted hallways, sprinkled with small congregations of residents and staff. Residents that looked at me, smiled and said hello as I passed. There was no smell of urine, this was a big deal to me. The rooms were clean and we did not hear the constant buzzing of the call alarm.

Everyone could not have been more helpful. The nursing staff, all of them, from the Aids to RNs were great! They were extremely attentive, gentle and considerate when caring for her.

The one negative thing comment I have is the laundry crew’s complete and total lack of consideration or concern with SLAMMING the exit door to the laundry facility.

Fix the door!!
