I am writing on behalf of my mother, who at first came to this facility as a Hospice patient back in late May 2012. I personally say evidence of forced feeding even though my mother had a DNR. I questioned the head nurse as she seemed proud of herself that she 'got my mama to eat', as then I say my mother laying there with dry crusted tomato sauce all over her face, nose, chin and chest. As the nurse left I got a warm wash cloth and washed off her stained and dried dinner, I was loudly reprimanded for doing the staffs duty. I was stern with them as to leave my mother in such condition that it dried, and would not easily wipe off.
Now it has been eighteen months, she has been in Hospice twice and the Pavilion for the rest of the time. She has been in bed the whole time. She no longer wears a 'diaper' but more of just a pad under her. Sometimes she has to wait an hour to be changed and cleaned up from a bowel movement. Nobody exercises her limbs, so they have atrophied and all muscle tone is gone. She may go for days without any visitors.
This whole situation is sad and demeaning for my mother, and since my brother has claimed "power of atty." I am not allowed to ask anything of the staff.

i chose the Pavilion for my father when he needed intense rehab. He was there for about 2 months and made great progress. He's 88 but back living on his own thanks to the great PT and OT and nursing care given to him. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good rehab experience.

If someone asked me to suggest a good nursing home in the area, it wouldn't be this place. They don't deserve a recommendation in my opinion. Staff was hit or miss, some were very helpful, some were too busy. No one seemed to understand the big picture. As each staff member came on shift, they had no idea my dad was diabetic, had lost his memory, was a fall risk but was perfectly able to walk. Buzzers on the floor were going off continuously; that just seemed to be the norm, no hurry to answer an alarm. We would stay with dad to help as much as possible, but every nurse had a new set of rules...he couldn't get out of bed, he had to stay in the wheelchair, couldn't go outside, PT thought he had done great and he'd never fallen (when he was a fall risk and had fallen twice). Food was good. Some staff had patience and energy, others didn't. Trying to understand and clarify the length of rehab stay was very frustrating, Dad's last day was not well planned out. Little to no assistance about how to move him to the home environment.
