This facility is one of the worst nursing homes in Pennsylvania for any type of memory or cognitive disease of the elderly. The staff is not knowledgeable in Alzheimer's and or dementia care although they claim to be. They don't keep the patient's personal daily hygiene needs met if the patient can’t speak up for themselves. I visited for a week and I did not see 1 employee wash a patient's hands at any time after taking them to the restroom or before meals. They dropped medication on the dirty bathroom floor and picked it up and handed it to a patient who had dementia. They do not get the patient's out of bed if they are not able to go to the restroom alone and if you ring the call bell, it takes at least 20-30 minutes for them to respond. The staff gossiped amongst themselves constantly while ignoring patient's needs and they pitted the patient’s family members against each other and caused unnecessary tension in the family when any of the more knowledgeable children or relatives questioned the lack of care and dignity of the patient. The acting so called administrator or assistant (female) was downright rude and insensitive when concerns were expressed. They blocked phone numbers of caring relatives who expressed concerns of the patient. They cannot keep good quality staff because of their low quality of care. The good ones are overworked and not appreciated so they leave. My friend’s relative is at peace now but suffered the time she was there because of them. If possible, they would be rated in the negative numbers and should be closed. The Nugent group appears to be only concerned with money and tax write-offs and not the care and dignity of patients which is sad.
