This facility is the best they took care of my dad in the best they can from the cna's, lvn's, rn's, and all the staff of the facility. They were all respectful and helped us in whatever we needed to make my dad stay comfortable. Sadly my dad just passed away this June 23 at the age of 98 he stayed in the facility for almost 8 months after a stroke at 97 yrs old and I can say that we were lucky to have selected this facility to take care of him. We the family cannot thank you enough BUENA PARK FACILITY for the care that you have extended to my dad FEDERICO VILLAVERT you guys had extended the services way and beyond from the director of the facility and social services for always being there when we needed them.

For Relatives of ELDERLY patients, please keep in mind that after hours care
can be substandard if they even provide one.

Late night Staff know all visitors are gone by 9 PM. Some staff think they
can do and say whatever to patients. So, CNA N, this is strike 1 and the
only strike for you. You get paid to do your job no matter how late your
shift is so earn it.

Additionally for nurse practitioners, with regards to prescriptions, they
are prescribed for a reason by someone with more qualification/authority
over you. You don't decide when to administer prescriptions. Just follow
what they call "Doctor's Orders".

My mother had a total knee replacement, and we were told she needed to go to "re-hab". This place was on the list;My sister and I were given the "special" tour -down the front hall only, with happy smiling people and actual clean rooms. We fell for it, and after her surgery, brought her here. It was September, and the air conditioner was turned for 2 hours each afternoon-that's it. My mother was 81 years old, just had major surgery, had congestive heart failure, which these people were made aware of, and she NEVER was seen by a doctor. When I asked where the doctor was, they said he doesn't come in on the weekends. The surgeon who released my mother from the hospital failed to include all of her medications on his release orders-which included all of her heart medications-and when I asked them to call her heart doctor to authorize them, they refused, saying my mother was under THEIR care!! Their care? WHAT care! I asked them to call their doctor, and they claimed they couldn't get hold of him. This place smelled terrible, there were 2 inches of water puddled on the bathroom floor, the food was unidentifiable, there were no phones or intercoms in the rooms, and when I rang the buzzer for help, in about 15 minutes, a surley "aide" would shuffle in saying "yeah, what do you want". Once, I saw an elderly man get out the unlocked back door heading toward Western Ave. in his wheelchair, and when I reported it, I was told, with a laugh, "Oh, he does that all the time:. I spent each night with my mother to protect her, and I would go out in the hall and find the "employees" sleeping!!! On the fourth morning, my mother was having trouble breathing, and after I begged the only R.N. to please see my mother, she listened to her chest, and said "she sounds fine". In desperation, we called the paramedics, she was taken back to the hospital and guess what-she had pneumonia!!!! Not only that, she had a bladder infection from the lack of care, and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. Be VERY careful if you decide to use this place.

I knew I was getting top-of-the-line treatment when they told me about what they learned at the latest conference they attended, and how they were incorporating that knowledge into the practice. They explained all the risks and benefits of my treatment options. Everything was explained in detail, all my questions were answered, and I felt a lot better about choosing a treatment plan. They make an extra effort to get to know their patients and find out what they need. They always remember me and make me feel very important. Let me just say that this business is in one of the safest areas around and you will be pleasantly surprised at how lovely the surroundings are.

One of the first things I noticed about this business was that they were not handicap-accessible and offered no means for handicapped individuals to enter the building. There were barriers everywhere making it practically impossible to get in the front door. The restrooms here weren't that clean, but they weren't out-of-control disgusting. I didn't mind using them but would have preferred a cleaner facility. The waiting area here is rather cramped. People often have to stand as there is not enough chairs. I don't think they were very experienced or well-trained. They didn't know what they were doing at all. When I told them about my situation, they were somewhat understanding, but they could have been more caring. They didn't try very hard to understand where I was coming from. They also fail BIG TIME to log medication - this is absurd and the director should know about this! I'm looking him up right now!
