I visited their nursing home.
It was not as bad as many, but it was depressing just the same. Residents were just sitting in their wheelchairs staring blankly off into space. Not much in the way of living going on, but they appeared to be alive.
The grounds around the facility are beautiful, though....

My parents spent the last 4 years of their lives at Augsburg and we couldn't have made a better choice. The facility is lovely and very reasonable, but the unexpected aspect that there is simply no way to "check out" ahead of time is how totally caring and loving the staff is at every level, especially the nursing care and rehab staff. If my parents are typical we will all need short term nursing/rehab care at various times in our elder years after any kind of hospital stay, and being able to go "home" to Augsburg after various hospital stays, to the angles in the nursing staff was priceless. Each of my parents spent time there and the other was able to visit daily from their independent apartment as the entire facility is under one roof. The help they provided for my father's funeral service and the friendship of Pastor Mike to my parents in their final years gave us tremendous peace of mind.
