I was impressed with the general staff, I felt they know the job they are doing, are educated enough about the medical field in which they work in, and communication skills as far as relaying messages were appropriate for my case. Compared to other medical practices I have been to; Northwest Orthopedic's Richland office was a very good experience. Again the general office staff was able to answer most of my questions, and always referred me to Doctor Zirkles Assistant who returned calls in a timely manner. I felt that she was knowledgeable about what her role is in that office, and had very good boundaries, as they are very busy. I feel that the office staff is most integral part of having a good experience with medical practicioners because they help with the flow of the work. I found this office to be well organized and followed protocol as directed by their policies and procedures.
They don't present as being "put out" when I have questions, or at least they don't show it, they are very busy and it is easy for me anyway, to read when people are stressed, but they never showed it, listened to my laundry list of complaints regarding tarsal tunnel, periphereal neuropathy, and that neuroma. Heard my fears about having poor health, and a desire to have someone that I trusted to do the procedure.
They told me a little bit about my treatments' risks and benefits, however at the time I needed surgery I was already well informed and Dr. Zirkle confirmed what I read about having these morton or plantar neuromas.
Doctor had to make a change during surgery...for my benefit. I am grateful he did because it could have just added to other issues of numbness to the top of my foot. Doctor Zirkle has performed numerous surgeries in his lifetime, and I know he did two on my father, and as a pre-teen he treated some foot and ankle issues for me so...I may be a little bias but all i know it has been day 6 after removal of a neuroma, and I am so relieved that the pressure is gone. Still have pain, see him next week, will follow his directives after follow up appointment.
Again I am so grateful to this medical practice at this time.I had seen two podiatrists, and an out of area orthopedic two years ago regarding this issue, I just wish I wouldn't have waited so long, or stood up for myself more to be heard. Someone finally heard me and again I am so very thankful!
