I had an appointment for 4pm for my daughter. They called in the morning and asked me to move it to 3:30 because they had a cancellation. This was more rushed and difficult for me to do, but I agreed anyway. Then, once I had rushed and gotten there at 3:30, we waited until 4:15 before we were called. I have 3 and a 6 year old and the waiting room had a couple of highlights magazines and one old rickety toy. They waited until about 4:30 to inform me that my insurance doesn't cover routine eye exams, so the visit would only be covered if something was found to be medically wrong with her eyes - like an allergy - nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism don't out. So, nothing was wrong with her eyes, and they wanted me to pay immediately. I wanted to check with my insurance company because I was fairly certain that I could pay out of my HSA even though the entire staff at the office was telling me that I was wrong and if I did that would get in some kind of trouble. I would have preferred to make that call when my two tired kids weren't waiting for dinner after 2 hours in a boring (and hot) doctor's office, but I had the distinct feeling they were going to call the cops on me if I tried to leave without paying. So I stood in the office an called my insurance company. Sure enough, I was right, and a routine eye exam IS a qualified medical expense, eligible to be paid out of the HSA. So I paid the bill using my HSA account, but I will certainly never ever go back to that practice. I have never encountered such a vehemently misinformed group. And did I mention the wait time?

They've never dismissed any of my concerns as unimportant, and take every concern of mine very seriously. Their office was well organized and clean. I could tell they took a lot of time making sure it was presentable. They always make an extra effort to make me feel respected and attended to. They always listen to every question or concern I may have.
