Dr. Heritage is a great Gyno. Absolutely wonderful! OB? Eh. I had a pretty perfect pregnancy and didn't need any extra medical attention. Whenever I left a message he would normally call back within 5-20 minutes. I gave him lower stars because of my delivery experience. He rushed me, didn't ask if I wanted medication (I did but it would have been nice to have been asked), and was barely on time to catch the baby. I went to the hospital about 4 times in three days with labor pains and when I went in the last time, the nurse was mad at him because he was rude and said "Again? Just send her home." The nurse told me that he underestimates your dilation so that he can do things on his own time, preferably with a c-section.
Like I said, great Gyno (5 stars!). Not so great OB (1/2 star).

I saw Dr. Heritage on the 4th of my 5 children. He was by far the worst doctor I had. Unfortunately it didn't really come to a head until the delivery. I chose him because at the time I lived in Woodbride, VA and wanted to deliver at Fairfax hospital. I was very careful to research and choose a doctor that I could see locally but had the ablility to deliver where I wanted to deliver. I did not have a complicated preganancy so I didn't need extra support and was a very easy patient. I do wish that he had addressed my constant yeast infections while pregnant instead of telling me that there was really nothing I could do but use topical cream. I found out on baby #5 that there was something and I was much more comfortable.
At the time of delivery I was disappointed to find that he had not intention of delivering at Fairfax. When i arrived at Fairfax they didn't recognize his name and when finding out I was only at a 3 1/2 send me home on a sleeping pill. After 20 hours of labor he told me that I could go to Potomac and he would help me. He ordered a pain killer as soon as I walked in the door. In the end I was given so many drugs the staff had to give me a narcotic reversal to wake me up to push. I felt controlled, helpless, and now several years later realized that it was most likely a contributing factor to the post partum depression that kicked in soon after delivery. I would be very very careful about Dr. Heritage. He wanted things his way and was willing to do what ever was necessary to have it that way.
