5 Star rating is for Dr. Brandes..the individual. The wait times are unforgivable, but the time afforded while interacting with me makes it acceptable. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate. After detailed incident logging and trial prescriptions, I am happy to say my migraines are controlled. Thank you, Dr. Brandes.

She is an expert in migraines. I have been seeing her for 3 years during which she has been switching me among meds. Prior to going I was having 3 - 4 migraines a week. They got down to 1 - 2 every 10 days. With the last switch of meds 2 mo. ago I have not had a migraine since. Persistence pays. Because of her expertise she has a huge patient load. But if you are patient and persistent, she and her nurse practitioner will work with you until your migraines are gone. Her staff is definitely not as friendly but seem to be skilled.

I was referred to Dr. Brandes by my physical therapist at Vanderbilt. There was an 8 month wait for new patient appt. but I was eager to find help and I trust my Vandy PT so I waited. My appt was initially scheduled for 8am, a month later they changed it to 12pm, the office called me the day before and had changed my time to 2pm and asked that I come in at 1:30 to do paperwork/intake. I arrived at 1:15 and was not even called back until 3pm. At 3:45, I went to the front desk and tried to reschedule as Dr. Brandes had missed the appt time COMPLETELY. The nurse came up and said she could check me in. I conceded and we went back and reviewed my paperwork, and she moved me into a different room to wait. I waited another hour and Dr. Brandes finally came in. She suggested we "start" me out on SIX different medications, and demanded I have an MRI and labs done. I declined as I have had both in the last 6mos and have shown no abnormalities. After rudely, condescendingly questioning me and asking for proof, she moved me down the hall where I waited 30min before walking out. 1:15-5:30 nothing gained, an entire afternoon lost.I will never go back. I have never, in 16 years, dealt with a doctor (neurologist, specifically) so terrible. I would never recommend her. However, if you are new to migraines and have never had a good diagnoses, she may be able to help you. She is knowledgable, but she's a pill-pusher. Read the book "Heal Your Headache," and you'll save yourself the trouble.

All the time! the waiting rooms are always packed and It seems as if they are more concerned about quantity over quality

I had to wait forever after I arrived for my appointment, on almost every occassion. On some appointment days, I was left waiting anywhere from 3-5 hours before I was ever seen by Dr. Brandes, with absolutely no regard to my schedule and the time I had to take off work to come in for the appointment. I understand, they get behind, but you should not constantly over book and make your patients suffer for it! I was disappointed, frustrated and sometimes even angry because it threw off the rest of my day. They make no effort to make me feel special. I don't think they appreciate my loyalty to them. I did experience some pain that I felt could have been avoided, given the situation they created and put me through. I would not recommend this office to anyone that is suffering from migraines as it will only make them worse.
