The only part of my experience with the gastroenterology department at Temple University Hospital was that the woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Fisher clearly had not read the files I had mailed to him two weeks prior to our appointment, even though I stressed that I was both cutting short a research trip, coming in from three states away, and paying out of pocket to see him. Dr. Fisher was old, stubborn, and clearly had not looked at my files. After spending half an hour questioning myself and my husband about the state of my health, he proceeded to lecture us on conditions I may have, suggesting we research them ourselves. He then went out to disregard anything either one of us had to say, even going so far as to insinuate what we described to him about my condition couldn't be true, as it wasn't textbook or did not make sense, and as such he would not venture to give a diagnosis. He wished us luck finding a doctor who could help us and then escorted us out the door. My husband and I had come to Dr. Fisher as he had be described as one of the best gastreonterologists in the country, but we left confused, angry, insulted, and disheartened. It cost us thousands to fly in to see him, stay in the city, and pay for the appointment. Dr. Fisher demonstrated no sympathy for the debilitating symptoms I have been suffering with for over two years, and he insulted my husband and myself by refusing to take anything we said seriously. Do not waste your time with this doctor.
