After going to two separate doctors in NYPresbyterian Columbia, I've used him for two children and would be delighted to continue. I've met return patients in his waiting room who say the same thing. He treats his patients like they are people with brains that can be used (as opposed to some doctors who think they are dealing with guinea pigs). I can't praise him highly enough!

This review does not necessarily reflect the doctor or his abilities, as I'm not sure he knows the extent of his staff's incompetency. My experience has been solely with his office staff.

I went only for one visit, which was enough. It was my first trimester and the appointment where they did all the blood work and verified the pregnancy. The doctor was rushed and quick because he was behind schedule due to a delivery during my appointment. He offered for me to follow up with questions, as I didn't have a chance to ask everything I needed. I called FOUR times and left a message for him to call me back regarding my questions. I even asked the staff if I should schedule another appointment to cover all my questions. They said "nono, he always calls back". I can't say it was a problem with Dr. Tenembaum that he didn't call back, but rather I suspect it's his extremely unprofessional, incompetent staff.

I quickly switched to a doctor I was happy with who tried to obtain my old medical records. Dr. Tenembaum's office never returned calls or forwarded my medical records. My husband and I ended up moving so we had to switch doctors again, and AGAIN it was impossible to obtain my medical records. After many calls from me and my current doctor's office, they finally "faxed it". Yet the several times they "faxed it", it didn't go through. They explained that our office fax machine is broken yet I gave them my mom's office fax as well as my doctor's fax machine and they told me faxes aren't going through because both those machines, in 2 separate locations MUST be broken. Finally someone faxed the medical information and it was BLANK! It was not the portion the doctor had filled out, but rather the blank sheet showing what tests will/were performed but without the results. My new doctor's office and I could not continue dealing with them and I just did all the testing again in their office.

Finally when I thought I was done with them, 7 months later I get a call from their billing department about the one visit in June. At the time of our visit my husband's employer offered a health savings flex card, so we never paid out of pocket. We made sure to close all our statements and provide our new address so that card could cover all medical costs acquired when we still received that benefit. Now, SEVEN MONTHS later we get a call from their 3rd party billing department asking for payment when we are on a different insurance altogether.

I called their office to ask what address they have on file and when I said to the receptionist "hello, could you please look up what address you have on file for me?" her response was not "sure" or "what's your name?" but rather "I don't even know who you are!!" Even basic phone skills acquired by 6 year old children don't exist in this office!

I wouldn't even hire this staff to do basic housework, much less be part of the process of my pregnancy and delivery.
