This is the worse dentist visit I have ever had. His shirt is half way up his belly, he smells, I didn't see him wash his hand and he was very rough. Save your self...don't go there

I've been going to Dr Fanning for several years and am impressed by his knowledge and response to any questions I'd asked. Office staff is very professional which is exactly what I want, I'm not looking for a best friend but thorough staff work. Both dental hygienists I've used have been thorough and quite pleasant. Even my husband, who's very particular, was impressed by Dr Fanning and his ability to solve dental problems.

They keep the restrooms well-stocked here, and not just with the basics. There is mouthwash, lotion and other amenities. You can tell they want their clients to be as comfortable as possible. I don't know of anywhere else that would've taken better care of me. I had a great experience. Just as a side note, I was very impressed with how conveniently located this business was and how close it was to other shopping centers. It was so easy to find, I didn't have any trouble at all. They never have that typical, annoying music playing here. If they do play music it is soothing and appropriate for the setting. They always make sure to return my phone call as soon as possible. They've never left me waiting. My emergency appointment was my first. I had broken a back tooth and they got me in the office that day. I was naturally very apprehensive but after only a few minutes of waiting I was whisked back to Dr Fanning, soothed by his caring attitude, and my broken tooth was out and the pain gone.I received follow up calls to make sure I was healing . I was very impressed and will definitely make Dr Fanning my personal dentist.

Dental hygienists are very friendly, and do their best to make sure you're comfortable. The receptionist does not-is very brusque and standoffish, and you can be standing in front of her for ages waiting for her to acknowledge you so you can find out how much you have to pay, if you have to pay at all, if you don't know what your insurance covers exactly, and she will completely ignore you. It wasn't until five minutes had passed and I was on my way out the door she called me back.

Dr. Fanning isn't much better. He rarely explains what he's going to do or what the procedure is, and makes no effort to make you at ease-even if you're obviously in distress. As a repeat patient, when I had teeth removed before putting on braces, I had a bad reaction to one of the numbing agents (not allergic, just made me way too anxious about everything that was going on) he said he made a not about it in my chart, but when I went to him to have a cavity filled, there was no note. I'm glad I double checked!

He does seem to pretty much know what he's doing, though. In terms of cavity filling/pulling teeth.

But if you do decide to go to him--make sure you go in the mornings! That way it's been close enough to his morning shower that he doesn't completely reek. I made the mistake of going to him in the afternoon, and the body odor is ATROCIOUS, not to mention his bad breath-which is why, I'm sure, he is perpetually chewing gum.

Bottom line: I gave a star because of the hygienists, and half a star because he is competent. But I'm finding a new dentist!

He was rude to me. He took 3 hours to pull one tooth from my husband, and it my husband had an extremely long recovery. One of my friends also went to Dr. Fanning to get a cap put on one tooth. He hit a nerve and she had to come back 4 times to get it taken care of. He was incredibly rude to her and basically was mad that he had to pay for his own mistake. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone!

Dr. Fanning seems competent. The staff was average, neither particularly helpful nor rude. I do not recommend him for work on young children. I took my five year old to get a cavity filled and he hit a nerve when injecting the local anesthetic. The pediatric dentist I now take my son uses smaller chairs, gas (I believe nitrous oxide) and is just set up in a manner much more suited to young children.
He has worked well with my older children. I trust Dr. Fanning’s judgment about what care is needed and I believe he has good prices. I still see him and take my children with the exception of my youngest who now only goes to Dr. Fanning’s office for dental cleanings.
