Dr. Smith is a fine dentist. And more importantly, he's honest. Not all dentists can make this claim. If you don't need dental work, Dr. Smith will tell you so.

I came to him after another dentist (Family Dental) wanted to do all kinds of dental work (i.e., crowns, gum treatment, special mouthwash, etc.). I was suspicious of this other dentist because I'm fanatical about my teeth. I floss for ten minutes at a time (with a Reach toothbrush-shaped flosser) and I brush my teeth with a Braun electric toothbrush for another 10 minutes or longer. I do this while I watch TV or while relaxing in an arm chair (etc.). Since both devices do most of the work for me, I don't really mind the extra time to care for my teeth.

In short, I really take care of my teeth.

So -- when I was recommended to Dr. Smith, I was also told to ask for Lisa. My business associate was right. Lisa is phenomenally thorough. In fact, the first session takes approximately 1 1/2 hours; subsequent visits take an hour. Bottom line, Lisa is the best dental hygienist I have ever gone to. She takes pride in her work. Genuinely cares about her patients. But most importantly, she really cleans your teeth.

The only way you can really understand what I mean is to see her yourself.

After my cleaning, I saw Dr. Smith. He checked out my teeth, reviewed my x-rays, and after a thorough examination, he told me that my teeth were looking good. Crowns were not necessary (one tooth might need some work in the future, but it did not require any work right now) and my gums looked healthy. He said my extra flossing might make my gums look a little tender sometimes, but he's ben monitoring my teeth and gums for two years now. And the more I floss the stronger my gums become.

I was impressed, and I know my teeth are in good shape. Minor issues. Dr. Smith simply corroborated this for me. In contrast, the other dentist (Family Dental) wanted to do a lot of work. I then Googled Family Dental and saw all the negative reviews for them. Now I know why.

Well, I've been going to Dr. Smith for almost two years now. I've also referred other patients to him as well. No complaints so far, and everyone is very pleased with Lisa.

I highly recommend this dentist, and I finally decided to make a referral here and elsewhere. Keep in mind that most people don't necessarily write a review for a dentist they're happy with. So no reviews are often a good sign. But when a dentist has a lot of negative reviews, it usually represents the "tip of the iceberg" of unsatisfied patients / customers.

Subsequently, I'm writing a long overdue positive review for Dr. Smith and Lisa. The quality of care is one of the best -- if not the best -- of any dental practice I've ever gone to. Don't take my word for it. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Smith (and with Lisa) and find out for yourself. Once you do, I believe you will continue to go back for a very long time.
