Dr. Young and his team are phenomenal. Initially, there my appointment as a new patient was for two months away. Within two days, Marcia at the front called me (as there were cancellations) to get me more quickly. So even though I was a new patient, I was important enough to call too. The waiting room and bathroom was pristine and welcoming and as soon as my paperwork was filled out (which asks about your whole health), less than two minutes had gone by before I was called in.

The lady (whose name I can't remember, I'm sorry!) who did the xrays was quick and efficient without losing friendliness. Julie cleaned my teeth that had not been cleaned in 13 to 14 years. Despite this, there was very little pain and she checked in with me frequently to see if I needed a break and how I was doing.

Dr. Young checked in with the cleaning several times and as the cleaning was finishing up, there he was waiting on Julie and I to finish. I couldn't believe it! Instead of me waiting for them (as is often the case in dentists and doctor's offices), they were right there waiting for the next person to finish their part of my visit. Dr. Young then explained my teeth to me using x-rays AND digital pictures! This was so helpful! When I asked questions they were answered without jargon.

The team created a plan to get my teeth back in ideal conditions. This is by far the best patient experience I have had in a very long time. While they do not accept payment plans (the only down side of this office) the benefits far outweigh this aspect. Once the treatment plan was created, I went back to Marcia who gave me a print out of EXACTLY what the costs would be for my treatment giving me a way to plan financially. No surprises.

Once out the door my teeth felt brand new and I felt like I'd just left an office I'd been going to for years. They weren't kidding when they said they view their patients as part of their family.

If you are looking for an office that is as friendly as they are efficient, values a holistic model (looking at health overall), has state of the art technology, and is affordable, then this is your dentist.

I have been a patient of Dr. Young for a number of years. I think he is a good dentist. I like that he is a "biological" dentist. This means that they view the body as a whole and know that the materials and procedures that are used in your mouth affect your whole body. Therefore they use compatable, less toxic alternatives when possible. They have the latest equipment. Dr. Young is very friendly and explains things well. Although at times he can be pushy about getting x-rays, impressions, cleanings etc. He has not found any cavities on me for a long time so I believe he is honest about that. Overall I think he is a knowledgeable and good dentist.

I was confident that they were using the latest treatment methods. They've answered a couple of my questions over the phone, but most of the time I have to schedule an appointment. All the equipment at this office is state-of-the-art. I feel very safe here because I know it's safe and current. I'm usually somewhat sensitive to the cold, so I was a little worried that their office would be too cold, but it was fine. I was very comfortable the entire time.

Dr.Young seems like a great guy but failed to address my main issue, TMJ, since he was extracting a tooth from someone else while I waited in the dentist chair. Keep in mind, Im paying over $200 for this visit, so being a little demanding is not out of the question. I just wish he would have had me come back if he did not have the time to really go over my workup with me. He did show me that my TMJ was pretty bad on the x-rays, but in the prognosis he did not even mention TMJ anywhere???
I decided to see another dentist for my follow up visit to get some cavities filled, seeing as this business was cheaper and much more attentive to my needs. I called Dr.Youngs business to get my records and got a very angry and annoyed woman on the phone who said she would try to get around to my records, since she was behind on all of her work. Was this my fault? No, but she told me she would call when the records and consent form was ready, on her time.
Same day, that afternoon the same woman called from Dr. Youngs office and left a message on my cell, informing me to come in but to call her before I came. So I called right back and said I would be in shortly and she said very tartly“ are you coming now” I guess she just cannot be bothered with customers??

So I arrived at the time I gave her and she handed me the consent form and said "sign here" in a very short tempered voice. Then she handed me a few x-rays and said " this is all you will need" which meant in my mind this is all we are willing to give to your other dentist?? So I asked for all my records, including the count of my teeth and she promptly said, "no" I could not have them and thats all I would need. Staying calm I said that I needed them and that after all, I did pay for these records to be made, hard earned money too, esp. in this bad economy. So one of Dr.Youngs dental assistants overheard and said it was no problem to get my other records. She was very sweet and helped me obtain the count of my teeth that I was looking for. The angry woman just gave me a dirty look and told another woman that I was leaving to go to another dentist, in a very deceitful manner. They all were talking, making a big stink over me, like I was a criminal or trader of some sorts. I was appalled but kept my cool and just took my records and left.

My point is, even though the Dentist seemed pretty nice, the secretary was outrageous and ruined my experience there. I will never go there again, esp. because I did nothing to upset this woman and those are my records. She doesn’t know my life and the fact that I have been ill, so I don’t have a full time job, no insurance and cannot afford what they were asking. I wont do anything to get her fired, that would just be as nasty as she was to me, but I do hope that karma will bite her in the ass, which I believe will happen soon enough.

Ive learned from this experience that people, all of us need to take control of our money, personal records, and our rights. Our doctors, dentist, eye specialist and other care givers are usually great people but when it comes to competition with other businesses, its war! This gives them no right to treat us poorly, or withhold information that is by law ours. We have to sign consent forms to obtain our own information, which seems sketchy in itself. Ive been to many doctors at this point for my illness and most of them never go further then general testing, limit conversation to less then 5min, and act offended when you ask for personal records. If anyone reads this, be warned that our care givers are not always out for our best interest, they are out for the money and to please the pharm companies.

And beyond health care, our government does not seem to be out for Americans best interest either. Which is a whole other subject. But to sum up my experience I would have to say just this:

Its simply GREED, the root of all evil….that’s ruined the love between all humans, and I hope those out there that really care, working in the medical field or just a retail store, continue to show love and mercy to all people, race, size, height, and mind., and remember that everyone you meet can cause a major impact on their life or yourself.

Peace~
