This clinic cares more about being paid than they do about your teeth! Our work switched insurance carriers and my daughter had a "dental emergency" (she had been in a month prior for work), they wouldn't even consider seeing her because of the insurance change (even if I was willing to pay OOP). I would like to think this was a one-time occurrance, but at her previous visit, I watched them refuse the patient to leave because they perceived he hadn't paid enough even though they had his insurance/billing information, he didn't have his HSA card with him because he was told prior to the visit everything was covered and he wouldn't need it. When they did allow him to leave, they made some snide remarks about his ability to pay "I figured if we didn't get it now, we'd never see the money" (he was dressed/well kept in designer jeans/shirt/hoodie and of Latin American descent)..
