Dr. Bullon (pronounced boo-YOWN) doesn't smile much, but he doesn't frown, either: He takes you and your issues seriously. He's not at all afraid to use chemicals aggressively to fight depression or manic-depression, and to manage the side effects of those meds. (When I told him I had a loss of sex drive, he didn't just brush that off, but really made an effort to find a drug to help--it turned out a stimulant medication worked great.) He listens. He responds. You get the feeling every word you say is being processed and reprocessed--not a lot of warmth, but deep compassion and kindness. Dr. Bullon is a psychiatrist who cares deeply about his practice and his patients. Once, when he had some extra time, he spent an hour with me even though I paid for only a 20-minute appointment.

Of course, being from Colombia, Dr. Bullon speaks Spanish as a native, so if you're Latino he's a great choice. I'm *not* Latino, and I have zero trouble communicating with him.

Plus--he dresses really well and has beautiful pictures on the walls!
