The following is a post I made on Facebook today:

Yesterday marked the 20th anniversary of my surgery for colorectal cancer.

Although things are messed up in the world these days, I am happy none the less to still be here.

I'd like to give my heart felt thanks to Dr Jaller who identified the problem, Dr Julie, who confirmed it, and especially Dr Allen Wolland who performed the surgery and removed the cancerous lesion.

Additionally, I would like to give thanks to all of the unnamed scientists, doctors, researchers, and others, who have advanced our knowledge and understanding of the universe and of life itself, making my diagnosis and surgery possible.

Without them, I would have been left to the fate of millions before me - an unpleasant death due to the capriciousness of nature.

And lastly, I would like to say to all of you who read this; Pay attention to what's happening with your body. If things don't seem right, ask your doctor. And do NOT be afraid of getting a colonoscopy. It's not painful, you won't even know it's happening. The only unpleasant thing is the preparation the day before. Not much fun, but not a big deal either and it is so worth it.

Here's to another 20 years of being cancer free!

Dr. Wolland and staff are very professional and sensitive to their patient's needs. I would not hesitate to recommend them to my friends and family. If I hadn't moved to another state, I would definitely be making my next colonoscopy appointment with him.
