I was a patient of Dr. Putnam for 5 years. I was diagnosed in 2007 for depression and given a mild prescription that never changed in those 5 years. Actually, within my first year of treatment I was placed on a repetitious 6-month visitation process, that consisted of 5-minute appointments every 6-months. This process never changed in my five-year duration with Dr. Putnam.

The receptionist at this office is also often rude and leaves precisely at 03:55-04:00pm regardless if patients are waiting with unanswered questions. She literally closes the window and walks out. Patients with unanswered questions from 03:00 or 03:15pm appointments, bills, etc, are simply left with no response. I have never seen an administrative staff act in such a manner at any doctors office in the Washington DC metro area. I would not recommend going.

I went here b/k of good reviews from the Washingtonian, but I now question their rating system. It can not be based on the customer service support offered by administrative staff, or Dr. Putnam himself. Perhaps more based on accreditation. Basically if you want a reserved and impassive, yet well-educated doctor that will treat you like another number/statistic in their charts; than Dr. Jared Putnam is for you. However, if you prefer a little bit of concern and effort from your doctor, than please go elsewhere.
