My complaint is not against any of their dentists(not given a chance); it is against their office staff in Michigan City and Valparaiso Family Dentistry. I was a new customer. I had been to a previous dentist and had xrays done a few weeks ago. I would have chosen them but was not network. I also had to see an oral dentist, so made an appt. with their Valpo office. It was not until Dec. I made it abundantly clear to the M.C. office that I needed those xrays for my appt the next week. The lady from the Valpo office was not understanding this; easily confused and basically giving me an unusually hard time! I admit I lost my temper. She hung up..The office manager from the M.C. office (lady) assured me that she would get those xrays. When I called the next day (several times), to try and explain my upsetting exchange with the Valpo lady and to say I wanted to apologize, I was given to several people, having to explain my story over and over. The office mgr. never called me back, who said she would get the xrays. I just cancelled my appt. in M.C. I still need to see the oral dentist in Valpo though...Can't believe how I was blacklisted so easily. How unfair. I also talked to someone, I know, who shared a similar, bad experience with this office a year or two ago (said lady was rude), so he transferred to their Valpo office.

Having had less than stellar service at previous dental offices in the past, my expectations were low on my first visit to South Shore Dentistry. Basicly, in my experience, if you are financially flush you can get whatever you want; otherwise you get little effort on their part. South Shore is a very different animal. They specialize in working with your insurance to maximise your options, and they offer access to low or no interest loans in the event that insurance doesn't cover 100% of your costs. They bend over backwards to accommodate your schedule, their doctors and staff are highly competent, and they work with you to find the best solution to your dental needs. No, they are not perfect, but they are a welcome relief to the impersonal, indifferent attitude that has been the norm in my dental experience.

I waited in the chair for over 30 minutes, no one come in to let me know that they where having problems or anything. I left. Also they have signs posted that if you are 10 minutes late you will have to reschedule your appointment but they must not think my time was as important.

The staff here as always been friendly, efficient, caring throughout the years. I've seen changes, but new faces have always seem to fit in well. Quality dental work too.

I echo Belladonna's complaint, below. Please make sure you monitor what services they are providing when your children visit, or else you will get a bill for things that are not covered by your insurance. Kids don't know what is "normal" and go along with what they say they need. One was an unnecessary fluoride treatment, the second instance was for panoramic x-rays.

I went here on a recommendation from a coworker.Staff is okay,nothing outstanding.I have had a lot of problems with with incorrect price qoutes and then getting surprise bills.They overcharged me once for $150 and it took me three months to get it back.They also will upgrade procedures without your permission knowing your insurance will not allow it then you're stuck paying the difference.I am switching dentists ASAP and would not reccomend this place to anyone!
