Yes, you have to wait a while. The receptionist gives you a letter with your paperwork upon your first visit that states that you will be waiting. The letter basically asks for your patience because every patient in the office has a very serious condition and the doctors spend the necessary time with all of the patients. My first appointment with Dr. Kava was at 4:15pm on Friday and I didn't see him until 6:45pm. Yes, he was working on Friday night. Every time I go for a follow up appointment, I expect to be there for a long time, but I couldn't care less. Dr. Kava is the most amazing doctor that has ever treated me. He saved part of my kidney from cancer and did a remarkable job on the surgery. What makes him special though is how kind he is in addition to his superlative skill as a surgeon. He called me on a Sunday afternoon to see how I was feeling before the surgery. He returned my call at 2am when I was having symptoms. He answers all of his email and made sure that I got answers to all of my questions. Dr. Kava instilled confidence in me prior to the surgery and remains engaged in my healthcare during my follow up visits. He is one of a kind human being, and his staff members are excellent as well. He is well worth the wait.
