I wish they had been more professional. They refused to call me by my legal name. When I asked them why they kept calling me by the wrong last name, they told me that 'We only call patients by the name on the insurance, so if your primary insurance holder has a different last name, that's the one we'll call you by'. I asked politely more than once to please call me by my real legal name, not the one on the insurance and they denied my request telling me it was more convenient for them to do it their way. No other medical establishment has stooped to this level of rudeness with me. All other hospitals, clinics, and doctors in the US call me by my real name but not this place because apparently that's too inconvenient.

The whole reason I came there was because they were highly recommended and because I was getting a second opinion. The Patients First on Lake Ella prescribed the wrong antibiotics for a spider infection even though the lab results detailed which antibiotics to use. I obtained a copy of the lab results and took it to Okanta Jackson, hoping I could get a second opinion and the correct antibiotics. He said that he could not overwrite another physician's prescription and that he'd just wait and see what happened with my spider bite infection under these other incorrect antibiotics and if they didn't work, then he would consider giving me new ones but only if he could do his own lab results. During the process, he also (along with the staff) called me by the wrong name. Okanta does not really talk to you or explain anything. He instead treats you as a case number and talks into his voice recorder using medical jargon. Never does he stop to explain anything during or after. He told me to come back in a month after essentially saying that he wasn't really going to do anything.

I knew I had enough and if I wasn't going to get the correct antibiotics and he was essentially useless for my case, that there was no point in wasting my time/money. I went to my General Practitioner the next day. At my GP, the doctor looked at the lab results from Patients First and prescribed me the antibiotics stated on the sheet. That's when I knew Okanta Jackson of Dermatology Associates was most likely telling a white lie when he claimed he couldn't write a new prescription because my General Practitioner did so with no problem and I didn't have to wait a month.

Dermatology Associates was one of the most dehumanizing medical experiences of my life and I can never return there because of the level of rudeness and inability/refusal to take over a case, which my General Practitioner had no problem doing.
