Dr. Wexler is simply the best, and that's what you should demand in someone who can change you fundamentally for the better. Expensive, but this is not something to skimp on; save money elsewhere.

My husband was suffering debilitating back pain from degenerative arthritis. I was referred to Dr Wexler because of his expertise managing very difficult psychiatric issues often related to other medical problems. I watched as my husband became more depressed and ultimately was told about Dr Wexler by friends and also my primary care physician. He was very kind, thorough, methodical in his assessment, collaborative with his other doctors, and committed to getting my husband relief. He advocated for a combination of medications targeting mood, anxiety, and pain and has brought back quality to my husband's existence. We are extremely grateful and can unequivocally recommend this thoughtful clinician to anyone in need.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr Wexler. I drive from the East Bay to see Dr Wexler. After years of working with other docs, a friend gave me the name of this kind, compassionate, really smart psychiatrist. He spent 2 hours with me - maybe more - piecing together what he called a working diagnosis and then working his medications to wonderful effect. He listened to me! He talked to my primary doc and includes my other doctors because we all know treating our head affects the rest of our body. I have learned about the mind-body connection and also that hormones, thyroid, and other systems affect my mood and need to be considered. Dr Wexler, you've given my another lease on life. I so appreciate what you've done for me and others suffering the ravages of depression.

Over the last 10 yrs, I have seen many psychiatrists. I have had depression and anxiety for many years. I have been on and off medications, some ok, some that did not work at all. Until, i found Dr. wexler. He is like my own personal gardian angel. I now feel better than I have in 20 years. His dedication and knowledge, paired with his genuine interest in my well being, makes my life a whole new world.
I am forever grateful to Dr. Wexler and his wonderful staff.
Lastly, Dr. Wexler's dog, Benny, is adorable and an extremely peaceful addition to any office.

$1500 for an initial two-hour visit, $250 for 30-min follow-ups. He could not even conduct the initial assessment interview properly - towards the end of the two-hour session he did not know key facts of my history. He engaged in socializing wasting valuable time. He also did not prescribe well for me - I had akathisia, a horrible reaction to a medication, and he was giving me semi-effective band-aids in the form of additional medications, whereas I needed to be switched to another medication (which was later done by a less expensive doctor) to get rid of akathisia. So you are paying for a posh office in Portola Valley, for a cute doggie that enters the examination room whenever it wishes (and diverts the attention of the doctor), and for feeding the huge ego of the doctor. Not worth it, let me tell you.

Dr. David B. Wexler is one of the most profession MH care providers that I have ever had contact with. His knowledge of Psychopharmacology is outstanding and concise. After my first session with him, he prescribed a medication that I have been pursuing for 11 years. After years of seeking that medication that would fully allow me to return to the mainstream, he hit it after a two hour interview. I fully appreciated his 'bedside manners' from the get go. After nearly a year of therapy, I have been able to return fully to my own profession, something that I hadn't done for 11 years. This gentleman is without a doubt very learned and at the vanguard of mental health treatment. I can't recommend him highly enough. Everyone suffering from mental illness ought to have the opportunity to be treated by David B. Wexler, Psychiatrist. My description doesn't really do him justice. Wayne D. Lamb, DVM.
