The front desk staff and nurse were a 10/10. I normally do not leave negative reviews, but I felt that I needed to share my experience with Dr. Gupta. I felt that Dr. Ghupta was not listening to me when I was explaining my situation, and he eventually asked if I had any autoimmune disorders. Once I told him I had psoriasis it seemed like he came to the conclusion that I had something autoimmune. He had the nurse order blood tests and said if they come back I could have lupus. I even confirmed with him after the appointment, 'So, if these test results come back positive I could have lupus.' and he said 'Yes'. He did not even ask me or explain to me anything about lupus! I have friends who are nurses and I also work at a healthcare company, I know how serious lupus can be, this is a dangerous thing to tell someone who is impressionable or has mental health issues, especially when you are not qualified to diagnose a patient. He then proceeds to tell me my cheeks look red, and said a butterfly rash is a common symptom of lupus. I had make up on! When I told him it was blush, he gave me a strange look like I was lying or something. I have never had a rash on my face in my life. I left the appointment with blood test papers and a follow up appointment for environmental allergies. No treatment for my current symptoms (itchy mouth/lips, cracked lips, cotton like feeling). I end up sending pictures of my mouth to my PCP and they diagnose me with thrush. I am currently being treated and do not plan on following up with Dr. Gupta. One more interation that I felt I needed to share was when Dr. Gupta asked what medication I was on. I told him I was on a low-dose Zoloft for panic attacks and anxiety. He then asks if I really need it and that its important to strengthen my mind and not use medication as a crutch. I then asked him if he thought my medication could be causing my symptoms and he said no. I found this unprofessional and condescending. First of all, he does not know me or my medical history. I have had anxiety since I was a kid and it is not his job to tell me his opinion on my mental health if it has nothing to do with the diagnosis.
The non-doctor was ok, although the pressure to fill out all the forms online was frustrating because I then had to fill out more when I arrived. I ended up being scheduled with the nurse instead of the doctor and it was a terrible experience. One of my numbers on a breathing test was off 'likely due to technique the person giving the test should have explained it' with no offer to redo the test to determine if it fact it was incorrect. She also clearly did not actually listen to my allergy symptoms, or when they happened, and did not listen when I said I tried treatments already. She gave vague advice that made it clear there wasn't much she could think of to advise me to do and then told me to retry the same treatment because despite 7 days of no impact 'it takes 10 to reach maximum effectiveness'. Her only response was I could come back in. But why would I think she could help me then when it was so bad this time.
I talked to Shilpi Anand. The appointment definitely felt rushed even though I am pretty sure Dr Anand was highly knowledgeable. It felt like she was getting me out of the room quickly since I had a pretty easy case so she was just going through all the procedure information. That or she just talks quickly so that was the impression I was getting. I had a really poor experience scheduling my appointment. It took me about 15 days between initial phone call with one person then back and forth with Vickie. I was getting called at 7pm at night to schedule or emails about scheduling but then no replies when I sent an email back to try and pick a date. I also got offered an unavailable time as well so when I tried to confirm it, I was then told it wasn't an option. In total it took 19 emails back and forth to set up this appointment despite being told to 'reply as soon as possible' to schedule. Also a very confusing experience with trying to send my medical records over because I signed a form saying I authorized them to contact my doctors to get the records but when I followed up to confirm it had been received, first I was told the clinic had my records, then told that was wrong, and that I had to call my other doctor to send them over.
Dr Engler was amazing! He is super knowledgeable and paid attention to each problem I wanted to discuss. The only feedback for improvement I have is the delays experienced waiting after my allergy test for the results to be read.
