My husband became one of the first patients of Dr. Bennetts when he opened up his practice in Carmel Valley. He had stuck with Dr. Bennetts when he went through all of his changes in practices. Even when he closed his practice because of sanctions and went to work for a "Doc in the Box" on Lighthouse.

He has used many models in his practices but this last one is just plain horrible. My husband was also late to an appointment by ten minutes and his staff very rudely turned him away. Then he was informed that since he had "missed" three appointments, that he would no longer be a patient of Dr. Bennetts. One appointment he cancelled, one he was late and the third he was a patient at CHOMP!

Dr. Bennetts has himself so insulated by his staff that my husband could not contact him. His office manager informed my husband that she filters all of Dr. Bennetts email, phone calls and letters. She very rudely informed him that Dr. Bennetts would never see or hear of his concerns!

Getting a refill from his office is joke. Sometimes it takes two weeks, if they don't forget entirely. Dr. Bennetts is pleasant enough when you are graced by his presence, but he is always in a rush. He stacks up patients like cord wood. I am sure he is happy with his business model but it is not patient friendly.

My husband found another doctor who is approachable and really is concerned about the welfare of his patients. Dr. Bennetts needs to take another hard look at his business model before he is brought before the AMA again. Even though Dr. Bennetts practice consists of a large percentage of alcoholics and drug addicts, in recovery, he should realize that his patients are not second class citizens.

My grandmother has been seeing Doctor Bennetts for years and is very comfortable with him. Today she was late and was told rudely that it was her fault and the doctor would not see today. My grandmother has a hard time walking so she was in fact late, but where is the compassion? I am very disappointed that an office staff would treat an elderly patient this rudely.

They are an absolute expert in the field. I would never feel unsafe or apprehensive in their care. It was nice to hear how much the staff respected them. It made me that much more confident that I was under the care of a professional. They are always polite and never use foul language, which I really appreciate. It's always made me uncomfortable at other places when I've heard them use foul language, but they don't here. I know I can bring my kids, and not worry about it. Their office equipment was in good shape and looked very current. I felt like everything was very safe. I've been places before where they were argumentative and angry, so I was nervous that I would encounter that here as well. Instead, they were very calm and understanding the entire time. I could tell they really care about everyone who visits them.

They made the extra effort to make sure every question and concern I had was addressed. They were very qualified and knowledgeable. I could tell that they've been doing their job well for quite a while. One of the first things I noticed about this business was how many different areas of the building were handicap-accessible. I have been to other places where I couldn't tell how someone in a wheelchair could even enter, but they really spent a lot of time to accommodate people with all different needs. The office manager Shannon refused to inform Dr. Bennetts to call in a sample he had given me for a prescription. What I mean is he gave me a sample of some migrane medicine, I asked the office (Shannon personally) to have Dr. Bennetts call me in the prescription at Costco. She refused, telling me I had to come in for another appointment (cost 200.00). I told her that I couldn't afford it, and to please give me the medicine that I needed for my pain! she refused pont blank. I asked to talk to Dr. Bennetts personally, and of course I have not.
Shannon and I meant in the last year at a meeting in Pacific Grove. She showed up the next week with her Pit Bull in towe. Iexplained to her politely that dog's were not allowed in the meeting room. She was very upset, and seemed angry for sure as she left. It is my belief that this could have been the reason she was so rude to me, and refused to help me get my needed medication from Dr. Bennetts. I had seen Dr. Benntts within the last nine or ten months, he gave me the sample to try, I used it and it helped my migraine, I couldn't afford another appointment. I feel like I was treated unfairly.
