I was a patient of Dr. Thompson from mid-2007 to Feb., 2012 when I had to self-diagnose Diabetes Out of Control and insist on an A1C test, even though I had had my annual physical exam for 3 years previously which indicated that in 2009 I was Pre-Diabetic and by 2010 a full blown Diabetic yet was never told by Dr. Thompson. Had she told me in 2009 when my Fasting Glucose was 112, we could have avoided the nightmare I have to live with today. When I insisted on an A1C test on Feb. 3rd, 2012, it came back reading 12.3% when it should be under 5.8%. There were many other indications pointing to trouble, with high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high C-Reactive Protein (which I had to ask for), and a family history of Diabetes. Yet on my own, without her suggestion, I took it upon myself to lose 30 lbs from April, 2011 to Nov. 2011 when that annual bloodtest showed a Fasting Glucose of 127. Still, she said nothing to me. When my gums began to bleed, my eyes began to blur, and my legs were cramping so severely I thought I would die of a stroke did I realize 3 mos. later it was Diabetes and called to order the A1C test. After receiving the results and asking for a follow up appt., when I questioned her as to why she never caught it, knowing I had a family history, she made 2 remarks, "oh, you have a family history of diabetes? OMG! Next, her response was, "I have absolutely no idea why I didn't catch it." This is not simply an oversight but Total Failure and Neglect of Responsibility to the oath she took to "first do no harm." Knowing my disposition to take the bull by the horns when confronted with a challenge, had I known in 2009 when my Fasting Glucose was 112, I would have reversed the Pre-Diabetes and would not be forced to take the measures that must be taken today to reverse the damage and the Diabetes permanently, which is costing me time, money, and lots of sleepless nights. In two months, with the help of my New Integrative Doctor, my A1C has gone from 12.3 to 8.6%. It must get to 6.5% in order to avoid the need for insulin. This is no thanks to Dr. Thompson.
