I speak from personal experience; today, I had my 3rd colonoscopy performed by Dr. Katkov. I cannot speak too highly of his professionalism,courtesy & skill-together with those of the team who cared for me at The Endoscopy Centre on Wilshire in Santa Monica. He makes sure, in his pre-prodecural discussion a week before the procedure, that the patient is well-prepared & unafraid of what is to be done. His PA,Lisa, gives very clear, written instructions as to the preparation needed & the time-frame involved. He also performs the procedures at St.John's Hospital in Santa Monica, but I opted for the Endoscopy Centre. The welcome there is warm from the beginning; I prefer an early start because that makes the prep. less onerous, as the last intake of water must be at least 5 hours before the procedure. My Nurse, Terri, explained each part of the process & then got me a paper. My blood pressure was taken continuously, an IV is connected through a vein in my hand. After a short wait, I'm taken into the Theatre. Dr. Roberts. a most delightful gentleman, was my anaesthetist, his calm & kindness allayed any fears. And then I woke up in the Recovery Room, nurses watched me carefully to see I could stand & off I went. No-one likes having a colonoscopy, but they should have no fears. Dr. Katkov is as good as you can get; I totally recommend him & his team.
