I don’t know how people can say this doctor is competent or caring, but perhaps they have a more minor neurological issue…or something non treatable… One thing is for sure, though. This doctor is not fit to handle adult epilepsy or caring enough to rise to the challenge of providing a suitable and ongoing care plan for a newly anointed epileptic.

My daughter ended up in St Joseph’s emergency room, with Barrow doctors, after she had two seizures in under 12 hours while under this doctor’s care. In fact, how this doctor handled my daughter’s care raised eyebrows from all of the professionals who did her intake and who worked hard to stabilize my 29 year old whose medication list lacked the “rescue” med that would have eased the severity of the seizures that she was experiencing--- and which should have been prescribed for her when the doctor first took on her case six months earlier.

In addition, the fact that the doctor told her to take a Tylenol for a reaction to her breakthrough medication made all the medical personnel in attendance gasp. She had called Patterson to discuss the nausea, double vision and dizziness, as well as headache, since these were notations on the warning label. The receptionist said the doctor had stated to take Tylenol, which sure wasn’t going to help the nausea that overtook my kid’s body. It took another two calls to get the doctor to attend to that issue and at that, she dd that inappropriately. She prescribed a medication that was not in stock at the pharmacy. It is inappropriate to do this when a patient was experiencing a reaction---and throwing up from the medication reaction is a recognized reaction. She needed a new drug at that moment and not when a pharmacy got it into stock. Instead, upon her arrival at St. Joseph’s my daughter had to be given intravenous for five hours because she was so dehydrated from throwing up from a medication that she had to take because there wasn’t another one in stock, a medication that she was reacting to and was the one that she was supposed to clear by taking a Tylenol. Does that prove to you readers how bad this doctor is? In addition, waiting for a medication that is not in stock or obtainable is definitely not an appropriate move as the reaction to the first medication alone is enough for someone to have a seizure—and in this case, two of them within the time frame. All these decisions left the Barrow doctors shaking their heads. No. Any major problem isn’t in this woman’s tool kit.

I want to add that there is no trained support staff in this practice, so be prepared for a receptionist to woodenly tell you to take a Tylenol or go to an emergency room—without mentioning the Barrow-related emergency room that you should head to for a solution to your problem. If there is a nursing specialist s/he is invisible for emergencies and the doctor is more than elusive—and as our experiences indicate—not well trained or caring to get back to people with timely input or pharmaceutical changes.

My friend, who was an emergency room nurse for 40+years, said doctors like these should get a review like this—anyone this ill-informed and removed from the patient is a danger to the community.

I trust her with all my health issues. Being diagnosed with MS was very traumatic. But with her caring and knowledge I can relax and go forward with all my treatments and medications that she has chosen for me. Thank God I found her, and thank God He sent me her way!!!!

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is very friendly and professional. I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. The office was easy enough to find. I will absolutely return. I had an amazing experience, and they were by far the best I've ever seen. They answered my questions and spent a lot of time with me. I didn't feel like they were trying to rush my appointment at all.
