She is always thorough and professional but at the same time she is pleasant and you are made to feel comfortable. I have showed up with emergencies and they always fit me in.

Disappointed. This doctor did not tell me about a 2cm fibroid in my uterus until I was already being medicated for surgery, my D&C since I miscarried 6 weeks into my pregnancy. I spent the entire evening, I should have been relaxed and recovering, thinking of how tactless and improper this delivery of information was. I tried to contact her for by phone for days to no avail. I am canceling my follow up and seeing someone else. I would not recommend her to anyone I cared about.

I went in to find a new OBGYN for all my womanly needs and to continue my regular birth control routine (uncovered by my insurance). I was told I needed a new patient consultation first (covered by my insurance). I asked for the price of the consultation without insurance so I would know just in case. I was told $120. I scheduled the appointment. When I arrived I asked again the price of the consult as I am a student. I was told it would depend on the code the doctor gives but consultations were covered. The doctor spent 5 minutes with me and took a blood test to ensure I wasn't pregnant. I was asked to pay 20$ for the blood test on the spot and sent home without an appropriate pricing on the consult still even though they now had a billing code from the doctor. Later in the mail I received a $504 bill. My insurance refused to pay because she billed it as a birth control consult instead of a new patient consult. I asked why didn't the doctor give me the fill consultation (covered) as I was new to the area and would have continued to go to this doctor for any other reasons (pregnancy, std, birth control, etc). The conversations between myself, the billing dept, and the insurance company was relentless. I finally got the bill down to $371 but the experience was absolutely horrible. I will never return to this office.

She is an absolute expert in the field. I would never feel unsafe or apprehensive in her care. I tell my friends looking for a new OBGYN to go here. Dr Helen Spalding is one of the best doctors I've ever been to.
