Dr. Sahkir has been my optometrist of choice for many yuears even though, as a practicing ophthalmologist, I could easily have used the optometrist in my own medical office. Dr. Shakir is a kind and caring professional who takes all the time necessary with each patient. He is meticulous about his refractions and is very knowlegable about the latest advances in his field. I have never been disappointed in the spectiucalo corrections he provided for me. Top notch in my book!

Dr Shakir is the most caring eye doctor I have ever met. He always takes his time, listening to your concerns and helps you achieve the best vision correction possible. The rest of the staff is always pleasant and remembers who you are. Here I feel like family. If you need a wonderful eye doctor then he is the person to see.

Dr. Shakir is a wonderful doctor. Both he and his staff are very personable, very patient and answer all questions you may have thoroughly. I highly recommend Dr, Shakir to anyone in need of an excellent eye doctor.

The staff at the front desk were incredibly rude. I brought in my wheelchair bound relative whose ambulance came late, and they immediately told us that we were late instead of accommodating us. We waited over an hour after filling out paperwork. Finally when we saw the Dr, he didn't even introduce himself. He just immediately went to work. Yes, he was thorough but he had only silence to offer. I had to prompt the questions bc my relative isn't english speaking.

We asked the staff to call her ambulance for her, and they said that they did and that we should be outside in 20 minutes. We felt rushed. Also the prescription for her reading glasses which they didn't give her right there, I called about and they told me she had to come in physically. When I said she couldn't, they had the audacity to say that the 'bus was waiting for you for an hour outside.' I responded briskly with the fact that it is difficult for her on a daily basis to move and going there even harder because she is in constant pain. And I told the woman on the phone that the ambulance made us late for our appointment but that it had nothing to do with her prescription glasses and that she is in a LOT of pain all the time. That's when they backpedaled and said that yes they could mail her the prescription.

The front desk especially is rude, unaccommodating, and really knows how to make you feel bad for being late to an appointment. Seriously?

I went to Dr. Shakir because I have keratoconus and had left it untreated for far too long. I saw on his website that he specialized in fitting keratoconus patients with contacts. He fits the eyes one at a time to insure that he has a proper fit as this can be tricky with keratoconus. We have not started on the right eye yet (my worse eye) but I am already in a contact that provides nearly 20/20 vision. I have already noticed much improvement in trying to read or just walking around outside (like not having to squint at street signs). Dr. Shakir was very understanding and up front with all the information I needed.
