It was obvious that Mrs. Dale was not very happy to help me. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but she could have been nicer and showed SOME compassion, which you would expect from someone in her field of work. She was dressed very professionally and her office was very well decorated. However, Mrs. Dale was more focused on discussing insurance and how she would be reimbursed, which I certainly understand. We do have insurance and I provided her with my insurance information, but it was obvious that she has had difficulty being paid by some of her other clients. She actually stated that to me on several occasions. I understand the necessity of having a conversation about billing but the manner by which she went about it was very rude and condescending. It made me feel as though she may be used to dealing with "certain clientele" and may have had negative experiences with "others." I believe she placed me in the "other" category. That may be my incorrect perception, but it sure was how she made me feel. I didn't have to wait at all after I arrived for my appointment, however every time I called and left a message (prior to this first visit), I never heard back by phone. When I arrived she said that she prefers to speak to her customers in person. We end up connecting prior to my appointment, but it was by e-mail. Perhaps if we had spoken by phone prior to the appointment, the billing questions could have been answered prior to my arrival and she may have been more at ease with seeing me. I would never refer Mrs. Dale to anyone and will be sharing with the physician who referred me to her, that I do not recommend that he refers anyone to her practice as well. I got up and left her office very upset.

With a history of repeated trauma and concurrent chronic health conditions, I have had a necessarily long history with mental health professionals. Tina has repeatedly impressed me in multiple areas. She is a quiet and humble soul who evokes peace by her presence, yet effectively asserts and confronts when necessary. She is adept at drawing from a well-stocked and ever-growing bag of psycho-therapeutic tools exactly the approach which fits the client and the moment. She was able to properly gauge when to push and when to back off, when to be available and when to challenge me to rely on myself, when to answer and when to turn the question back to me. I wanted help desperately, but without Tina's help could not manage to dismantle the thick wall around my feelings and properly install and learn to utilize a gate. She helped me not only identify my defense mechanisms, but how they came into being and how they no longer served me. Tina is particularly skilled at digging into your very core to unearth the source of your unhealthy actions today. She does not undermine growth by doing for the client what the client is capable of. At times, she has stirred my wrath to the point of wanting to quit, then I realize that she is the only one who has managed to unlock it. She is teaching me that I am more than both a victim or survivor of my past or my present. I've driven her mad at times, but she persists with my best interests at heart, not giving up on me as long as I'm unwilling to give up. If you want a therapist who is always up on the latest research, who is highly perceptive, and who cares more about helping you than being liked, I highly recommend Tina Marie Dale, LCSW.
