My recent experience involved a new lense, made in CO , scleral, RGP. A new salesman from the firm fitted me and I ordered the pair for $600-although I didn't know they would cost that much. I originally wanted Duette hybrid (RGP with soft skirt) for about $350. The lenses came in, I put them in, doc didn't floresce for fit or ensure I could remove them IAW box instructions. I left them in 3 hours and my eye started to blanche and when I removed the left lenses, my conjuctiva was 'torn' little shreds, and my eye stained red for 2 days with pain. I immediately reported it on a Friday and had an appointment for Monday. ON MOnday, I brought the lenses back and said that due to the pain and the torn tissue, I know longer wanted to experiment. Doc did not look at the lenses, nor conduct any type of real exam on my hurt eye. He was scornful that I would not work with him on a 'better fit' although he had never prescribed these type lenses before or had much exp with them. I think if he had been more concerned about the health of my eye and had more experience with this type of lense, I might have presevered. I am ordering a pair of Ciba durasoft and he told me they would cost $400! He wouldn't give me any money back until they came in. On line, these lenses go for $99-$179 depending on color, or type-the toric plain ones shouldn't cost over $150. When I mentioned that, he didn't seem to grasp that he had just tried to quote a price that was out of the ball park. It seems like he just wants my money, is not sympathetic to the bad experience and has 'written me off' because I wouldn't go forward with the product he was pushing. I held my decision and even said "I hope you get all your money back from the firm." I am sure he got the lenses free for trying them though and he is just scamming me. I will not go again once I get my money back and pay a fair price. They definitely pressured me to buy products. I felt like they were just trying to make money off me. Whenever I called with a question or concern, the staff made me feel stupid for calling. I was hoping that they would be sympathetic to my situation and understand where I was coming from. Instead, they made it completely obvious that they didn't care about me or what I had been through. They barely gave me any information at all. I'm going to have to do my own research to get my questions answered.
