Dr. Nuss performed surgery to remove a parotid tumor from my son's neck almost 20 years ago. He was recommended by several other surgeons to me as I was working at Charity as an RN in the ER back then. He actually found and removed 2 tumors. It is imperative to find a surgeon that is skilled in this procedure since even a slight touch to the facial nerve can cause facial paralysis for life. Dr. Nuss did a wonderful job. My son is now 36 and has had no further problems. I should have posted something on this years ago, but I was reminded of that surgery today and I wanted to express my sincere gratitude. If I had this to do over, I can think of no one else I would choose. Thank you.

When I went to visit Dr. D Nuss for the first time, I had a list of questions that I obtained through research on computor on how to perform surgery on my parotid tumor without causing me facial paralysis and or deformity. I had previously visited two other specialists and was told that with almost certainty I would have these after effects of surgery. Before I could even read off my questions, Dr. Nuss explained to me that he was going to do everything in his power to prevent the paralysis and deformity by using a nerve monitor and rebuiding the space in my face where the gland was with my own harvested abdominal fat. He was so kind, confident and knowledgable that I trusted him and felt no need to interview more physcians. He was the one! After performing my surgery, he explained that it was very complex and long due to my facial nerve wrapping around the tumor. He said that he meticulously worked on detaching the tumor from the nerve and was able to spare me the complications by taking his time which took more that six hours. The other doctors told me the nerve could not be spared and the surgery would be about two hours.. I am so thankful and grateful for having met this wonderful man/doctor. I would and do recommend him to anyone needing complex facial surgery of the parotid gland or anything that he specializes in. My face looks perfectly normal. My left eye muscle was slightly weak for a very short time and the other complications of numbness to the ear that often happens with this surgery was minimal and has since cleared completly as well. He performed my surgery in New Orleans in August of 2002.Thank You Again Dr. Nuss, if you should ever happen to see this! Trudy Lacour
