Dr. Houts was the on-call neuro. at St. Marks when I was admitted for a serious injury sustained in a car accident. Long story short, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the hospital. In November ... 2008.
I made an appt. with Dr., er, Mr. Houts as soon as they could fit me in, which was that following January, 2009.
I suppose the hospital isn't liable for communicating a positive lumbar puncture for MS. B/c it was the FIRST time I had seen anyone since being released without a diagnosis.
At my appointment, he was casually thumbing through my file asking why I was there ... until he noticed in the file that I had MS.
He said "Oh, I see, it looks like you have MS."
Uhhhhhh ... NOT the way ANYONE deserves to find out about such a serious matter. He then discounted EVERY medication the NMSS bolsters, and I do my research, I'm not blindly led by an association ... threw one pamphlet at me with ONE option of the DMD he did NOT believe in, and I literally ran out of his office, demanding my file.
I'll never, ever forget what a piece of trash experience I had with something SO life altering. He really .... REALLY should not be practicing. I'd do about all I can to get him off the patient side of things, and if it were up to me, he wouldn't be practicing anything. Except maybe shuffleboard. What a jerk.

He took his time to thoroughly explain everything and helped me not to panic about a possible MS diagnosis. Very kind, I had multiple bad experiences with other doctors and was horribly stressed out about seeing another one but he assuaged all my fears with his nice demeanor. He took plenty of time on my visit to explain the diagnosis, possible treatments, and even whether I would be able to afford further testing or not. His office staff was extremely friendly and nice too. He does not make great eye contact, but I got the feeling that was more due to shyness than anything else. He is a great doctor and very well informed. I was hesitant to see him because of the negative reviews online, but I needed to be seen immediately and he was able to get me in in a few days. I'm so glad I saw him, one of the best doctors I've ever seen.

Not really, it wasn't very clean
