I started with Dr. Nguyen in April, 2016 at the Fairfax facility. I first met with the PA, Taylor who was very thorough in gathering information and examining me. Then, Dr. Nguyen examined me and ordered xrays of my joints to establish a baseline. On the next visit in June, he went over the xray results & bloodwork and suggested gradually reducing the weekly amount of methotrexate. None of my previous Rheumatologists tried to find an acceptable level; just increase the dose. I was on 7 (2.5mg-MTX) weekly and reduced by 1(2.5mg) every 4 weeks. On my next visit in June, I was down to 3 (2.5mg of MTX). He suggested I go up to 4 (2.5mg) to avoid flare-ups. Dr. reviewed my xrays , showed and explained the condition of knee joints. However, in September I experienced severe pain in my shoulder. I called Dr's office on Monday, 10am. They said I could see Dr. on Wednesday or the PA 2pm today. I saw Taylor @2pm, she examined my shoulder, discussed the possible diagnoses. She then administered a cortisone injection. She then gave me instructions to rest shoulder for 2 days and then some exercises. Taylor advised me to call if I still had pain. The next step would be xrays. My shoulder is fine, no more pain and I can sleep at night. I understand that it is difficult to get an initial appointment, however when there is an emergency, this practice is responsive. I find the staff to be polite and business-like. Dr. Nguyen is one of the finest physicians I have had as a Rheumatologist in the last 15 years.

It is next to impossible to get the doctor to respond to a request for pain medication which to me in inexcusable. I was told anywhere from 48-72 hours which seems to be characteristic for this doctor's response!
