Shaun W McLaughlin, MD, is a board-certified diagnostic and interventional radiologist/oncologist who uses radiology and imaging technology to perform minimally invasive surgery. He specializes in ablation to treat primary cancers and metastatic disease in the lung, liver and kidneys. He also performs catheter-based treatments to deliver chemotherapy and radiation therapy directly to tumors using the tumor’s blood supply. “Interventional oncology is considered the fourth pillar of multidisciplinary cancer care along with surgery, medical oncology and radiation oncology,” Dr McLaughlin explains. “We’re involved with patient care from the second they walk in for their biopsies.
