John Manor, D.O., A.T.C., is a rehabilitation physician who specializes in pain management procedures for people with injuries and illnesses affecting the bones, joints, muscles and internal organs. He has expertise in using ultrasound- and fluoroscopically guided (X-ray) procedures to diagnose and treat chronic pain, particularly for conditions affecting the spine and nervous system.
Initially educated as an athletic trainer, Dr. Manor provided musculoskeletal rehabilitation and manual therapy services for varsity athletes at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill while working on his master’s degree, and then at Campbell University, where he later obtained his medical degree. After medical school, Dr. Manor completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was appointed as a chief resident in his final year. After that, he completed a fellowship in pain medicine, also at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Manor’s research interests focus on the application of interventional pain procedures in different patient populations to improve physical function and quality of life. He is also engaged in quality improvement projects aiming to reduce preventable harms for patients in acute inpatient rehabilitation units. Dr. Manor mentors residents and fellows in the physical medicine and rehabilitation residency and interventional pain fellowship programs at Johns Hopkins.
When he is not working, Dr. Manor enjoys exploring the outdoors, partaking in a nice meal out or relaxing at home with his family.
