Richard Carrick

Dr. Richard (Rick) Carrick is a general cardiologist in the Johns Hopkins Division of Medicine and is an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.  He also serves as associate director of the Johns Hopkins Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center of Excellence. Originally from Massachusetts, he completed his medical training as well as a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at the University of Vermont and did his internal medicine residency training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. He completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and a T32 Research Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. His research focuses on the use of advanced computational techniques like machine-learning and artificial intelligence to improve risk stratification in patients with inherited heart disease. Clinically, he specializes in echocardiography and the care of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and other genetic cardiomyopathies.
