“I was five or six when I knew that I wanted to be a doctor. I really enjoyed science and figuring out how things work,” she said. “When I got into med school and saw how I could help patients, that’s when it really hit that I was taking care of them and making them feel better.”
Dr Colgan grew up in Topeka and earned her undergraduate degree from Washburn and her medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine internship at Virginia Commonwealth University and a residency in anesthesia at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she was exposed to pain management.
