Marc C. Engels
Marc Engels, M.D., Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the University of Utah School of Medicine. He is a cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist, specializing in the care of patients with heart rhythm disorders. He completed medical school as well as a Ph.D. at Leiden University in the Netherlands, followed by internal medicine residency at Emory University, cardiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital and cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His clinical interests include ablation of complex cardiac arrhythmias such as ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter, and supraventricular tachycardia, as well as device therapy including pacemakers, cardiac resynchronization therapy, ICDs, and conduction system pacing as well as leadless pacemakers, device extraction and Watchman devices. His research has focused on the fundamental mechanisms underlying heart rhythm disorders as well as cellular and molecular based arrhythmia therapies including shockless defibrillation.
