Ashley Madera

Ashley V. Madera, MD, is a neurologist in the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center and an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. She is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Madera’s expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, including essential tremor, atypical parkinsonian syndromes, Huntington’s disease, chorea, dystonia, ataxia, and functional movement disorders. She manages patients with hemifacial spasm, blepharospasm, cervical and limb dystonia, spasticity, and sialorrhea using botulinum toxin injections. Dr. Madera is also trained in evaluating patients for deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery and in managing patients after the procedure. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neurological Association, and the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

Dr. Madera earned her medical degree from Rush University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. She completed her neurology residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora and a movement disorders fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Madera’s research interests include improving access to specialized neurologic care and addressing barriers to research participation for underserved populations.
