Owen Strom, MD
After growing up in rural western Washington, I attended Washington State University in Pullman where I received a bachelor?s degree in Genetics and Cell Biology. For several years I pursued research, focusing on microbiology and antibiotic stewardship, but learned how much I enjoyed the human aspect of population health. My wife and I then attended graduate school at Virginia Tech where I completed a Master of Public Health in infectious disease and epidemiology. During this time, I also was privileged to be a part of the Flint Water Crisis and was exposed to the health disparities in both metropolitan areas like Flint, MI as well as rural Appalachian communities.
