She chose a career in critical care because she enjoys solving problems and helping others - medicine is a great marriage of those interests. She was surprised by her interest in critical care - it is a product of many overnight call shifts in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) during her residency at Swedish Hospital, part of North Shore, Chicago, Ill. She found that she enjoyed the fast-paced nature, wide ranging pathologies and the opportunity to do procedures.
