As a general surgeon, I enjoy the breadth of operations that we perform. Specifically, I like minimally invasive abdominal surgery, which includes laparoscopy and using the DaVinci robot for hernia repairs, gallbladders, and colon surgery. I also have training and background in broad-based rural general surgery including c-sections, benign gynecology, vasectomies and endovenous ablations. I enjoy camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking, yard work, grilling, and riding ATVs. My wife, Julia Bates, PA-C, and I keep busy with three children, two cats, and one dog.
