Carolina Garcia Olmos Calil, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with specific interests in anxiety disorders, mood disorders, cultural psychiatry, women’s mental health, and medical education who values being an empathic listener for her patients. She’s an assistant professor in the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. She is one of the attending physicians supervising the residents in the Third Year Psychiatry Residency Training Program at the medical school and has been involved with multiple research projects at the UTHealth Houston Center of Excellence on Mood Disorders. Originally from Brazil, she completed medical school at Faculdade de Ciencias Medicas do Santa Casa de São Paulo and her general psychiatry residency at Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericordia. As a board-certified psychiatrist in Brazil, she completed extensive clinical work in various challenging settings before moving to the U.S. She then completed a psychiatry residency at McGovern Medical School. She achieved board certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Garcia Olmos Calil is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
