He completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Bosque University, Hospital Santa Clara in Bogota. He went on to obtain a master of science degree in health and health-care research from Ann Arbor based University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Until recently, he has been serving as an assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr Martinez is certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
