I was always fascinated with how the human body functions and gravitated to – and excelled in – science classes. I wanted a career that allowed me to make a positive impact on people’s daily lives. As an OB/GYN, I have the career I always dreamed of. I actively listen to my patients and take the time necessary to find out what’s important to them and how I can help. And if the issue is something I can’t actively manage, I refer patients to the correct specialist. Using plain language – rather than “doctorspeak” – is something I pride myself on. I will also repeat my advice to ensure my patient understands and that we’re on the same page. I enjoy all aspects of my medical practice, but I really love treating my menopausal patients. I’ve learned so many life lessons from them. My favorite surgical procedures – including mending prolapsed pelvic structures – usually affect this age group. I am actively involved with the nonprofit Going Beyond the Pink, a Wilmington-based breast cancer society that offers support to survivors. My physician husband and I have two daughters and two small dogs. I enjoy biking, running and tennis. The gym is my happy place.
