I want every person in my care to feel respected and to know that I see them as a human being and not just as a patient. Whether they have a chronic or acute condition, or one that is life-threatening or less serious, I will give an honest assessment of their health and make sure they understand their condition and their options. I also want them to know I am committed to finding a treatment plan that works for them and adjusting that treatment plan as life changes.
I was born in South Carolina, but raised in Montgomery, Alabama, so being back in the Carolinas brings me back to my roots. I have a beautiful, high-achieving wife, Charlotte Mae, who has a PhD in biomedical engineering, and three children I adore. Our goldendoodle, Albert, contributes to our colorful, chaotic life: turning dirt, leaves and backyard toys into piles of fun.

Heart conditions run in my family; I have seen firsthand the impact heart disease and other cardiac issues can have, and that is why I am passionate about improving the lives of patients who suffer from them. My career in cardiac electrophysiology allows me to help people suffering from cardiac arrhythmias, while combining my humanitarian and technological interests. I find my career immensely satisfying. The impact I have on my patients is reinforced every time I receive a letter or comment from a patient expressing their gratitude.
